Immediate Goals |
| |
- Allow animals already adopted to be released rather than euthanized.
- Allow animals “tagged” for adoption to complete the process and be released.
- Allow the currently existing waiver forms and shelter adoption forms to suffice when the adopter requests to go “against medical advice” of the shelter veterinarian.
- Eliminate clerical errors that cost lives by refining policies/procedures and educating the staff. Post/distribute information for adopters to insure the correct process is followed. Use the scanner directly off the truck; call owners of dogs with ID tags immediately off the truck.
- Treat all clients, rescue and public, with respect; do not discriminate against rescue
- Implement the Citizens Advisory Board per the City Charter
- Increase MAS open hours from 26 hours per week to 40 hours per week.

National average of pet owner households is 65%. Based on the 2000 city census, there are around 250,721 pet owner households in Memphis.
